Poet Jericho Brown Connects with Southern Maryland Audiences on Effects of His Work

Connecting with College of Southern Maryland audiences as part of the Connections Literary Readings held each semester, acclaimed poet and American Book Award recipient, Jericho Brown, read from his work at the Prince Frederick Campus, Nov. 1. While his work has been described as “an attempt to fight back against hate in its many guises,” Brown told the Connections audience that “people see things that are clearly in the work that are quite obviously subconscious that even after I was done with the poem I never saw and didn’t subconsciously know.” Brown is an associate professor and the director of the Creative Writing Program at Emory University in Atlanta.
