The College of Southern Maryland, Vyalex Management Solutions, NAVAIR, NAVSEA, C & M Solutions, LLC and Patriots Technology Training Center present the first Southern Maryland Youth in Technology Summit, Dec. 16 at 4 p.m. on CSMs Leonardtown Campus.
The free program is open to students in Southern Maryland and specifically high school students, to introduce them at an early age to career opportunities in technology, health and science fields.
Representatives in the health and education fields as well as from NAVSEA and NAVAIR will meet in small groups with the students to provide information on career development and college preparation. Students will also have the opportunity to participate in interactive technology demonstrations and be entered to win door prizes, such as video game systems and portable media players.
The concept for the technology summit was conceived by Al Leandre, president and chief executive officer of Vyalex. We want to inspire students to graduate high school and provide them with incentives to excel in the areas of math and science, said Leandre. The idea is for them to connect the dots toward a great career in technology. This event will expose them to the opportunities that await them after college in both in the private sector and military. Students residing in Southern Maryland are in high demand by regional tech employers, to develop and maintain a thriving workforce in the region. At this event, the students will interact with engineers, scientist, managers and other professionals, he added.
Sponsorships at various levels are available for companies and organizations that would like to support this event. For sponsorship information, call 301-863-7113 or visit www.cmsolutions3.com.
