CSM Twilight Performance Series: Chautauquan Rachel Carson. 6:45 p.m., July 9, College of Southern Maryland, La Plata Campus, 8730 Mitchell Road, La Plata. CSM’s Twilight Performance Series kicks off with a week of Chautauqua, featuring Rachel Carson, the mother of the environmental movement and one of the historical figures featured as part of the Maryland Humanities Council’s program, “Turning Points in History.” The night begins with musical entertainment by Steve Hickman followed by the evening’s historical performance. Each week the series features a different performance on each campus. Bring a picnic with a lawn chair or blanket (no alcoholic beverages permitted.)
