CSM Students Explore Service, Volunteerism

“Service and Volunteerism?Social Justice in Action” was the theme of the 11th College of Southern Maryland Social Justice Day held on April 14 at the Prince Frederick Campus. Speakers from service agencies and organizations in the community, including military and police, spoke to students about service and volunteerism in Calvert County and beyond. First place winners in the student poster contest were, from left, Jenna Pitcher of Dowell, Raekwon Savoy of Lusby and Gus Latson of Dunkirk for their project “Vincent Van Gogh and Schizophrenia.” Heather Wiley of Huntingtown, Jules Buttner of Lusby and Josephine Trahan of North Beach earned second place for their project, “Carrie Fisher and Bipolar Disorder.” Julia Jacoby of Lusby, A.J. Remington of Dunkirk and Taylor Mutchler of Huntingtown earned third place for their project, “Social Structures as Examined in the Film: Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.” For information on CSM, visit www.csmd.edu.
