The College of Southern Maryland bestowed Honorary Hawk status to former Orioles’ third baseman Brooks Robinson, right, during the hall of famer’s visit to the Prince Frederick Campus April 7. Presented by Michelle Ruble, CSM director of student life and athletics, left, and CSM mascot Charlie the Hawk, the autographed T-shirt will be included in the college’s time capsule that will be dedicated in the fall as part of CSM’s 50th anniversary celebrations. Baseball Hall of Famer Brooks Robinson spoke with College of Southern Maryland athletes, students and community members April 7 during his three-stop promotional tour of the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs of the Atlantic League baseball team. Baseball Hall of Famer Brooks Robinson shared favorite stories and whimsical insights of his 21 years in playing third base with the Baltimore Orioles with members of College of Southern Maryland’s baseball and softball teams and other community residents during a three-stop tour on behalf of his Southern Maryland Blue Crabs of the Atlantic League baseball team which will celebrate its inaugural weekend May 2-4.
