The College of Southern Maryland invites the public to join local panelists for a discussion on slots and their impact in Southern Maryland as part of its Community Forum series. “Slots in Southern Maryland: Good or Evil?” will be held Oct. 13, beginning at 9 a.m. at the La Plata Campus, Center for Business and Industry, Room BI-113.
Panel members will include Maryland State Delegates Tony O'Donnell and Murray Levy; Minor Carter, a lobbyist for StopSlotsMaryland.com; and Dale Speake, a restaurateur and former Charles County Commissioner. The forum will examine the economic factors that keep the discussion on slot machines alive, review the pros and cons of slots, and look at the implications for Southern Maryland.
The forum is structured to encourage questions from the audience and dialogue with the panelists. Similar forums are scheduled throughout the year at each of the colleges campuses in La Plata, Leonardtown and Prince Frederick.
