Local Experts Aim to Remove Budget Writing Stress
The College of Southern Maryland is hosting a free grant training seminar at its La Plata Campus Aug. 28 for people who want to learn how to prepare and manage a grant budget. The training seminar will cover the budget portion of federal, state, corporate and non-profit grant applications.
Grant professionals, Charles County Government Grants Analyst Debra Posey, and CSM Grants/Contract Fiscal Coordinator Judy Mills, who collectively monitor more than $30 million in grants annually, will lead participants through the grant budget writing and management process.
Many people who are asked to write grants are managers whose expertise are in program management but may not be as familiar with the budgeting process, said Posey, We are going over the financial side of the grant process, what they should include and what they dont want to miss.
Presenters will discuss good practices and give participants the tools they need to construct a budget for their grant proposal.
Sponsored by the Maryland Governors Grants Office, Commissioners of Charles County, College of Southern Maryland and the Charles County Public Library, the seminar is free, but pre-registration is required by Aug. 21 to CSM Grants Development Specialist Becky Cockerham at 301-934-7648 or firstname.lastname@example.org. The training seminar is Aug. 28 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at CSMs Center for Business and Industry, room BI-113.
