Up to 75 Percent of Eligible Bachelor’s Coursework Can Be Completed at CSM
The College of Southern Maryland and Excelsior College of Albany, N.Y., announce a partnership to enable a seamless transfer for CSM students pursuing a bachelors degree. CSM students who have earned associate of science degrees in business administration, computer science, engineering technology, nuclear engineering technology and hospitality management are eligible for transfer consideration.
Excelsior College, an accredited, nonprofit distance learning institution, will recognize completed CSM associates degrees and coursework up to a maximum of 90 credits for transfer toward a bachelors degree.
If students plan early, they can obtain at least three degrees from CSM and then transfer to Excelsior. In some cases, more than 75 percent of the coursework for a bachelors degree can be completed at CSMat CSMs tuition price, said CSM Lead Coordinator of Transfer Services and Articulation James Spence.
Building on the cost savings of attending a community college for the first two years, Excelsior offers a partnership tuition rate of $280 per credit hour for bachelors level study. Excelsior also waives the $480 annual student services fee for students taking six or more credits per year. For CSM partnership students, the Excelsior graduation fee is reduced from $495 to $130.
The following programs of study are available for students transferring to Excelsior: CSMs Associate of Science in Business Administration to the Excelsior Bachelor of Science in Business (general); Associate of Science in Computer Science to Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (general); Associate of Applied Science in Engineering Technology: Electronics to Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering Technology, Nanotechnology concentration; Associate of Applied Science in Engineering Technology: Electronics to Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering Technology, Electronics concentration; Associate of Applied Science in Nuclear Engineering Technology: Instrumentation and Control to Bachelor of Science in Technology, Nuclear Technologies area of focus; Associate of Applied Science Hospitality Management to Bachelor of Professional Studies in Business and Management; and Associate of Applied Science Hospitality Management to Bachelor of Science with concentration in Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism.
