Michelle Ruble to Serve on Executive Committee for NATYCAA

As a former college student-athlete herself, Michelle Ruble understands the stresses of preparing for a key game and preparing for a key exam simultaneously. She applies that now as director of Student Life and Athletics at the College of Southern Maryland, where she is dedicated to helping the next generations of student-athletes do the same.

Her efforts have not gone unnoticed. For the upcoming academic year, Ruble has been selected to serve on the executive committee of the National Alliance of Two-Year College Athletic Administrators (NATYCAA), the only professional organization in the United States that represents all two-year institutions of higher education for athletic administrators.

“My involvement with NATYCAA will keep me informed of the emerging trends and practices in two-year college athletics while expanding opportunities to network with colleagues and share information, experiences and strategies. Participation at a national level affords me the opportunity to grow professionally and improve my ability to create an atmosphere of student-athlete success at CSM,” said Ruble.

Ruble has served in leadership roles with NJCAA, Region 20 of the NJCAA and MDJUCO. Locally, she has served on the board of the Zonta Club of Charles County. She will join the 2014 class of Leadership Southern Maryland.

“From the time Michelle joined CSM as head volleyball coach in 1991 to her current role as director of Student Life and Athletics, her dedication and enthusiasm for excellence has inspired our student-athletes as well as our coaching staff. We are delighted that NATYCAA has chosen Michelle for their executive committee,” said CSM Vice President of Student and Instructional Support Dr. Bill Comey.

NATYCAA was established in 1987 and is dedicated to the continuing growth and development of two-year college athletics and the individuals involved through exchange of information, monitoring legislation, promotion of academic excellence, increasing communication between organizations and encouraging a high degree of integrity in all endeavors. The organization along with many others is an affiliate of the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics which includes all senior (four-year) institutions as well.
