College Staffs Efforts Earn 5 Awards from NCMPR
The College of Southern Maryland is a five-time winner for several marketing and public relations efforts completed during 2008. The National Council of Marketing and Public Relations recognized the college's marketing department with three medallion awards and the colleges community relations department with two medallion awards at its annual District 1 convention in Saratoga Springs, NY on Oct. 27.
The awards were presented for projects involving the college's 50th anniversary, its Campaign for the Next 50 Years, The Big Read and fall enrollment.
The college is fortunate to have such a creative and talented team of professionals led by Marketing Director Theresa Johnson and Community Relations Director Karen Smith Hupp. Their efforts are tireless in creating exceptional ways to effectively communicate and promote the programs and initiatives of CSM, said Michelle Goodwin, CSMs vice president of advancement.
Efforts recognized were: in the wildcard category, a silver award for the 50th anniversary commemorative calendar; in the postcard category, a bronze award for the fall enrollment direct mail series; in the integrated marketing campaign category, a bronze award for the Campaign for the Next 50 Years; in the press or promotional kit category, a bronze award for the media launch of the Campaign for the Next 50 Years; and in the media success story category, a bronze award for the public relations collaboration with the community for The Big Read.
Since 2004 CSM has received 14 NCMPR awards for its public relations and marketing efforts. The medallion awards recognize outstanding achievement and excellence in communications. NCMPRs District 1 includes Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont and the Canadian provinces of New Brunswick, Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, Quebec and the United Kingdom.
