Connections Presents Poet Jehanne Dubrow, March 1

As part of the College of Southern Maryland’s Spring Connections Series, poet Jehanne Dubrow will read from her new collection of poems “Red Army Red,” beginning at 7:30 p.m., March 1, at the La Plata Campus, Center for Business and Industry (BI Building), Dr. John Sine Room BI-103.

Dubrow is the author of four poetry collections, including most recently, “Red Army Red” and “Stateside.” Her first book, “The Hardship Post” won the Three Candles Press Open Book Award and her second collection, “From the Fever-World” won the Washington Writers’ Publishing House Poetry Competition. Her poetry, creative fiction and book reviews have appeared in journals such as Southern Review, The New Republic, Ploughshares, The Hudson Review, The New England Review, West Branch, Gulf Coast, Blackbird, Copper Nickel, Prarie Schooner, as well as Poetry Daily and Verse Daily.

Dubrow has been the recipient of the Alice Fay Di Castagnola Award from the Poetry Society of America, the Towson University Prize for Literature, an Individual Artist’s Award from the Maryland State Arts Council, a Walter E. Dakin Fellowship and Howard Nemerov Poetry Scholarship from the Sewanee Writers’ Conference and a Sosland Foundation Fellowship from the Center for Advanced Holocaust Studies at the U.S. Holocaust Museum.

Dubrow serves as the director of the Rose O’Neill Literary House and is an assistant professor in creative writing and literature at Washington College and occasionally teaches classes at the Writer’s Center in Bethesda, Md.

The Connections Series features award-winning contemporary writers, poets and artists who share their work with Southern Maryland residents.
