CSM Ward Virts Concert Series: The Unified Jazz Ensemble, jazz quartet. 3 p.m., Nov 1. College of Southern Maryland, Prince Frederick Campus, Building B, Multipurpose Room, 115 J.W. Williams Road, Prince Frederick. Based in Annapolis, the Unified Jazz Ensemble is dedicated to bringing the best of jazz to audiences of all ages. Founded in 1992 as the first jazz group in the National Endowment for the Arts Rural Residency Arts Initiative, the ensemble has performed across the U.S. and internationally, engaging listeners in innovative performances of jazz standards and original compositions. “Friendly Friday” at CSM. 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Nov. 6. College of Southern Maryland Prince Frederick Campus, Building B, Room B-203, 115 J.W. Williams Road, Prince Frederick. “Friendly Friday” is an opportunity for students to fast-track enrollment to CSM by completing an application, taking placement tests, meeting an advisor, registering and paying for spring semester classes in one visit. CSM Main Stage Theatre: “Oliver!” 7:30 p.m., Nov. 12; 8 p.m., Nov. 13-14. College of Southern Maryland, La Plata Campus, Fine Arts (FA) Building, Theater, 8730 Mitchell Road, La Plata. This is the classic tale of an orphan boy who struggles to find a better life. CSM Winter Production Auditions. 6-8 p.m., Nov. 16-17. College of Southern Maryland, La Plata Campus, Fine Arts (FA) Building, Theater, 8730 Mitchell Road, La Plata. CSM is holding auditions for its winter productions, including Children's Theatre's “The Little Prince,” Cause Theatre's “My First Time” and Main Stage Theatre's “Before it Hits Home.” Performers should prepare a one-minute monologue. CSM Tony Hungerford Memorial Art Gallery: Alexandra Silverthorn Group “Drift.” Nov. 16 to Dec. 11. College of Southern Maryland, La Plata Campus, Fine Arts (FA) Building, Tony Hungerford Memorial Art Gallery, 8730 Mitchell Road, La Plata. This exhibit brings together the work of four photographers-from California, Washington, D.C. and Maine-that each take a journey through landscape with different constraints and styles.
