Georgia O’Keeffe, Emily Dickinson, Frida Kahlo Presented July 8-10

The College of Southern Maryland’s Twilight Performance Series continues July 8-10 with Chautauqua performances. The annual Chautauqua program includes interactive, family-friendly presentations and is an educational program of the Maryland Humanities Council, presented in partnership with CSM. This year’s theme is “Creative Women: Breaking the Mold.” Women to be portrayed are Georgia O’Keeffe portrayed by Kelley Rouse on July 8, Emily Dickinson portrayed by MiMi Zannino July 9 and Frido Kahlo portrayed by Marian Licha July 10 at the La Plata Campus, 8730 Mitchell Road, La Plata.

Each performance will open at 6:45 p.m. with musical entertainment by Steve Hickman. Beginning as a dancer and musician in the Potomac Country Dancers, Hickman has performed at the Kennedy Center and on a regular basis in Williamsburg and in Alexandria, Virginia, at Gadsby’s Tavern. He also performs at dance and music events nationally and abroad.

This summer marks the 20th anniversary of Chautauqua as a living history performance series of the Maryland Humanities Council. The MHC is an independent non-profit organization which receives support from the National Endowment for the Humanities, the Maryland Division of Historical and Cultural Programs, corporations, foundations and individuals.
